Why GMF is the place for you |
At GMF, we empower our people to create change where it has the most impact – municipalities. GMF is a $1.6 billion permanent endowment from the Government of Canada, managed at arm's length, making it nimble and available for higher-risk, higher-impact initiatives. A further $530M investment into GMF to support the National Adaptation Strategy was announced in November 2022. Our team is committed to helping local governments switch to sustainable practices faster. GMF is the cornerstone program of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM). Our unique mix of funding, resources, and training gives municipalities the tools they need to build resiliency — and create better lives for Canadians. Through GMF, municipalities have reduced carbon emissions; built better transportation assets; constructed efficient and resilient buildings; diverted waste from landfill; made previously unusable land available for development; and improved soil and water quality. |
You in this role |
As the E-Learning Officer, you will play a key role in enhancing the functionality and impact of FCM's Learning Management System (LMS), supporting the development of high-quality, accessible e-learning offerings for the Green Municipal Fund audience. This position is vital in improving the user experience for both course creators and participants, directly contributing to the Green Municipal Fund’s (GMF) Capacity Development (CD) mandate. You will convene an internal community of practice on the LMS to facilitate knowledge-sharing. You will also develop standardized reporting and performance measurement systems, improve LMS processes and capabilities, and expand the LMS’s digital offerings to meet emerging needs. Another significant element of this role is to support the coordination and project management of the programming for the Sustainable Communities Conference (SCC), GMF's flagship event that occurs every two years. On non-SCC years, the focus of this role will be on e-learning initiatives, but event coordination will be a large focus on SCC years. Working collaboratively, the SCC planning team oversees the design and delivery of the conference program. As the E-Learning and Events Officer, you will be a key player on the SCC planning team. You will also support the planning and delivery of internal events such as team trainings and departmental retreats. Finally, under the guidance of the Manager of Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Knowledge-Sharing for Capacity Development, as the E-Learning Officer, you will oversee the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of GMF's digital learning strategy. You will also support the monitoring and evaluation of capacity development activities, for instance with programming online surveys and preparing online tools for interactive sessions. The work at FCM includes FCM becoming an even more member-driven organization that balances the realization of its goals with a people-centered approach. The incumbent embodies FCM’s commitment to being a healthy, diverse, inclusive, and anti-racist organization. As a member of the team, the E-Learning and Events Officer works in a manner that embraces these values, the corporate culture and the passion for FCM’s mandate. |
